Max Holding TimeBiohazardous medical waste should be stored for seven days if not refrigerated. It must be refrigerated at 40 degrees F if stored for more than seven days. Biohazardous medical waste should not be stored for more than 90 days.
Labeling RequirementsIt should be clearly labeled with the universal biohazard symbol and the words "Biohazardous Medical Waste" or "Infectious Waste."
Container StandardsNon-sharp waste must be placed in a red disposable plastic bag that is leak-resistant, impervious to moisture, and sealed to prevent leakage during transport.
Who Can Haul WasteIndividuals or entities transporting biohazardous medical waste must register with ADEQ.
