Container StandardsSharps must be stored in leak-proof, rigid, puncture-resistant containers with tight-fitting lids to prevent loss of contents.
Who Can Haul WasteMedical waste transporters are not currently required by the MDEQ to obtain special licensing or permits. However, upon collection of the waste, the transporter assumes ownership and is required to manage the waste in a manner that is protective of public health and the environment.
