Rules for Organizations & Facilities:

Max Holding TimeRegulated medical waste (RMW) must not remain on-site for more than 14 consecutive calendar days, including weekends and holidays.
Labeling RequirementsEach package and container of RMW must be labeled immediately upon use with “Medical Waste” or “Infectious Waste.” It can also display the universal biohazard symbol.
Container StandardsGeneral RMW containers must be rigid, leak-proof, and sealable.
Who Can Haul WasteOnly transporters registered with the NJDEP are authorized to transport RMW.
