Max Holding TimeNorth Dakota does not specify a maximum holding time for RIW. However, waste must be stored in a manner that prevents it from becoming putrescent. If necessary, refrigeration should be used to maintain the waste in a non-putrescent state.
Labeling RequirementsContainers must be labeled with the universal biohazard symbol and the word "BIOHAZARD." This labeling should comply with OSHA's Bloodborne Pathogens Standard (29 CFR 1910.1030).
Container StandardsBags should be red or orange and labeled or color-coded in accordance with OSHA standards. Containers must be leak-proof, impervious, puncture-resistant, and tear-resistant.
Who Can Haul WasteAny person who treats or transports RIW or operates a RIW management unit or facility must have a valid permit issued by the NDDEQ.
