Labeling RequirementsContainers of infectious waste intended for off-site transport must be labeled with the universal biohazard symbol.
Container StandardsSharps must be placed in rigid, leak-resistant, and puncture-resistant containers that are tightly secured to prevent loss of contents. Other infectious waste should be stored in rigid or semi-rigid, leak-resistant containers that are impervious to moisture.
